[AUCTeX] Bug with verbatim insertions and font settings.

When a verbatim environment (or a \verb item) contains an odd number of
$ signs, then the font insertions do not work correctly as the literal
$ in the verbatim causes AUCTeX to think that it should insert a math
font while in text mode and vice-versa.

Using auctex 11.53 and GNU emacs 21.3.1, on Ubuntu (PPC).
