I have not seen this warning myself, either building on NetBSD/gcc7 or
macOS/clang.  But if you redo that block to avoid strcpy-type ops, that
should avoid any similar issues.  It does seem typical that some of the
more advanceed static analysis-type warnings happen some places and not
others.
