There are 2 different backends, rpc.rigd and rigctld (the latter being
more actively developed than the former) that allow multiple programs to
access the radio, so long as these programs can talk to hamlib. You
launch either in the background, and then configure the programs to talk
with the daemon. Works like a charm, although it masks away some of the
radio capabilities.
