Since you are using a K2 you can use my program Marote 
(http://hamsoftware.org) to interface with the rig.  Turn off the hamlib 
functions in Xlog.  And log the qso via Marote which sends the data to Xlog 
directly.  
You may not want to do all that but I thought I should mention it since you 
are using a K2.  I do not use hamlib in Marote I wrote my own specific K2 
driver.
