Dear sir / madam,

I am writing to ask whether I might be allowed to help translate webpages for you.  Although I am not a professional translator, I am a native speaker of Chinese, and have become fluent in English over the course of my education; so I am confident that I am sufficiently skilled in both languages to translate articles from English to Chinese. Although I might struggle with some of the technical terminology at first, I would be willing to put in the time and effort to compensate for my inadequacies should you allow me to help. 

I have already noted that the quality of the translations in terms of fluency and accuracy is much higher than mine, as can plainly be seen after reading through several articles openly available on savannah.org. Nonetheless, I hope that you would give me a chance to prove myself to you, and hope that with time and practise I will be able to produce similar translations.
