-<h3>Important directories</h3>
-
-<p>Essays and articles in the following directories should be translated
-in all available languages:</p>
-
-<ul>
- <li><code>education/</code></li>
- <li><code>gnu/</code></li>
- <li><code>licenses/</code></li>
- <li><code>philosophy/</code></li>
- <li><code>proprietary/</code></li>
-</ul>
-
-<p>In these important directories, however, there are articles of
-historical or peripheral interest only, for which new translations are
-not necessary. For instance, <code>philosophy/sco/*</code>,
-<code>philosophy/*-old.html</code>, <code>licenses/*_seminar.html</code>,
-<code>philosophy/economics_frank/frank.html</code>, etc. Please use your
-judgment. (The existing translations of these articles should be maintained,
-though.)</p>
-
-<p>The <code>proprietary/</code> directory is important, but it changes as
-fast as a newsfeed. Don't start translating it unless you intend to update
-the translated pages over the long term.</p>
-
-<h3>Other directories</h3>
-
-<p>Don't bother translating the pages in <code>people/</code>, except perhaps
-speakers.html. Experience shows that translations of the other pages
-in that directory require too much maintenance work, and they don't
-provide much benefit. Translating <code>thankgnus/</code> may likewise
-be considered a waste of time.</p>
-
-<p>There is no problem to translate <code>home.html</code> if you have
-a very active team, but don't make the mistake to pick it up as your first
-translation. It is modified often, sometimes intensively, and only active
-team members should take that road.</p>
-
-<p>The material in the
-<code>software/</code> directory pertains to individual GNU packages. If you
-would like to translate something in that directory, please talk with the
-maintainers of the package to see what they would like to do.</p>
-
-<h3 id="Languages">Important languages</h3>
-
-<p>We welcome translations of essays into any language, but the following
-(in alphabetical order) are particularly important:</p>
-
-<ul>
- <li>Arabic</li>
- <li>Chinese</li>
- <li>French</li>
- <li>Hindi</li>
- <li>Indonesian</li>
- <li>Japanese</li>
- <li>Portuguese</li>
- <li>Russian</li>
- <li>Spanish</li>

-<!-- Regarding copyright, in general, standalone pages (as opposed to
- files generated as part of manuals) on the GNU web server should
- be under CC BY-ND 4.0. Please do NOT change or remove this
- without talking with the webmasters or licensing team first.
- Please make sure the copyright date is consistent with the
- document. For web pages, it is ok to list just the latest year the
- document was modified, or published.
-
- If you wish to list earlier years, that is ok too.
- Either "2001, 2002, 2003" or "2001-2003" are ok for specifying
- years, as long as each year in the range is in fact a copyrightable
- year, i.e., a year in which the document was published (including
- being publicly visible on the web or in a revision control system).
-
- There is more detail about copyright years in the GNU Maintainers
- Information document, www.gnu.org/prep/maintain. -->
