line feeds removed? Might be if I copy from Terminal window versus copying it 
from geany editor??
Think the code looked fine when I pasted it, but once I selected the comment 
and saw it all messed up.

New to this site, so perhaps there is an option to get the line feeds to work 
correctly.

I've been running the 
bash -x contrib/mingw
and 
bash -x contrib/mingw.static 

to build it, but get different errors.
Just looking at you link. Don't have a windows machine handy. So trying to use 
the mingw which works fine for lots of things I do, but nothing as complex as 
this. Thanks again.
