Follow-up Comment #1, patch #3764 (project wesnoth):
And even so, $var1$var2 has another valid meaning:
the value of the variable named `var1<value of var2>'.
It's sometimes a useful thing to do that; I do currently but inefficiently
and clumsily with multiple [set_variable] statements.
