Follow-up Comment #2, task #9089 (project weechat):
Yes, I'd rather get a hotkey. It's simply less typing.
Additionally, the Irssi plugin matches windows also based on whether the
user's input is a substring in the channel name, so that you can type a
substring from the middle of a name, and it will work. Admittedly this is
orthogonal to the hotkey issue, though the fact that buffer names in Weechat
include the leading server name makes using /buffer without this feature
harder.
Also, possible completions could be shown on the statusbar (a la some modes
of Vim's normal mode autocompletion).
