Since wdiff has taken on quite a few different version numbers lately,
I thought it would be nice to provide a summary so you have something
to refer to for seeing what a particular version number represents.

0.5 - latest official GNU wdiff version, released November 6, 1994
0.5g - latest unofficial wdiff version, released by Francois Pinard on
July 5, 1999; contains many fixes and an i18n component
0.5.1 - 0.5 with FSF address updated; first version in Savannah CVS
0.5.3 - copy of 0.5.1; version changed to prevent confusion with 0.5.1
referenced in some of the 0.5g files
0.5.4-pre* - 0.5.3 with 0.5g code merged, includes additional updates
to FSF address and copyright information
0.5.4 - original proposed version number for 0.5g integration (never used)
0.5.90 - latest pre-test for 0.5g integration (changed versioning to
use GNU recommendation of x.y.90 for pre-tests)
0.6 - official release number for 0.5g integration (not yet finished)

I hope this clears up any questions you may have had about the version
numbers. If not, feel free to ask.
