Hi,

I received the following feature request, which seems sensible to me.
BTW, did anyone contact the maintainer of the file(1) utility to
add texmacs files?

-Ralf.

Package: texmacs
Version: 1.0.0.7-2
Severity: wishlist

I would like to be able to type something like:
texmacs -i paper.tm -o paper.ps
and have my texmacs-typed paper ready for printing.

For your information, this is what lyx --help says:
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
LyX 1.1.6fix4 of Fri, Jan 11 2002
Usage: lyx [ command line switches ] [ name.lyx ... ]
Command line switches (case sensitive):
        -help summarize LyX usage
-userdir dir try to set user directory to dir
-sysdir dir try to set system directory to dir
-geometry WxH+X+Y set geometry of the main window
        -dbg feature[,feature]...
                  select the features to debug.
Type `lyx -dbg' to see the list of features
        -x [--execute] command
where command is a lyx command.
        -e [--export] fmt
where fmt is the export format of choice.
        -i [--import] fmt file.xxx
where fmt is the import format of choice
and file.xxx is the file to be imported.
Check the LyX man page for more details.

That may be useful, for example, for a print filter: it detects a
texmacs file (well, for the moment even 'file' doesn't recognize them),
and converts it to a suitable format.

Snark on #texmacs
