Consider
@center @image{api-figure1, , , Loading the extension, txt}
And the attached api-figure1.txt (from the gawk manual).
Each individual line of the figure file should not be centered, since
that undoes all the careful ASCII formatting, resulting in a mess.
Rather, the ASCII file considered as a block should be centered. Or if
that's not feasible, no centering should be done at all.
Compare without the @center:
@image{api-figure1, , , Loading the extension, txt}
where the file is translated intact.
