I found this problem in Ubuntu Feisty:
I wanted to install kubuntu-desktop and delete ubuntu-dekstop dummy packages. ubuntu-desktop has a lot of dependencies, and i wanted to get rid all of them (so i wanted a clean kubuntu-desktop), but i didn't find any way in sinaptic or in apt-get to do it. Is there any? Only the ubuntu-desktop package was deleted, and the hundreds of dependencies was still there, and i had to remove them manually...it was a long process.
