We used to use imagemagick. ( Ghostscript does conversion I believe). 
We had some problems.  A few of our files just wouldn't process, and
some fonts would look bad.  Just a note, It's been two years since I
last did it this way.

We switched to pdftoppm.  pdftoppm is part of xpdf and I think now
Poppler.  It does the initial conversion to the ppm format.  Then I use
imagemagick at this point to convert to jpeg or any graphic format I
want.  I believe pdf2swf (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is also based
on the same library so the conversion should be similar.

Hello,

Can anybody recommend a commandline tool which can convert pdfs to 
images best would be png's.
And resize at the same time would be great....
