Ok. So you are *not* using the CVS version. :)

That means l.a.m.e. is used as shared library and should therefore be
fine. Hmm...
Does the sound quality change if you remove the following
line in src/wav2swf.c:

    #define DEFINESOUND_MP3 1

and recompile?
