Toroidal space inherits from moving from differential equations to explicit space models.  The concept was that you are modeling an area that is small compared to the overall environment.  Therefore, all edges are identical.  At least in the case of ecological models, with a few exceptions like modeling a single tree, this is probably the worst choice of edge interaction, with absorbing or reflecting boundaries preferable depending on the system.

Hello,

I have a simple question some of you could probably answer: why in most of the examples programmer have chosen to use a toroidal space as environment? Which is the advantage?

Thanks and greetings
