Washington State University Department of Anthropology seeks Information Systems Coordinator to support the IGERT Program in Evolutionary Modeling (http://depts.washington.edu/ipem/). This is a grant-funded, admin/professional, 12-month, half-time appointment on the Pullman (WA, USA) campus to begin no later than Jan 7, 2008, and terminate May 31, 2011. The position supports computer-intensive classes/research in multi-disciplinary environment (anthropology/ biology), and coordinates operation/maintenance of IPEM-related information/computing systems, including computer labs, technical support, system administration, programming, and network engineering.

Required qualifications are a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent professional experience; working knowledge of scientific programming in C, C++, and Java; working knowledge of Unix/Linux environments; and working knowledge of agent- based modeling platforms such as Swarm or Repast.

Preference will be given to candidates with interest in IPEM-related research/publication activities; Master's degree in Computer Science, Biology, or Anthropology; working knowledge of statistical environments such as R/SAS, mathematical environments such as Matlab/ Mathematica, GIS such as ARC/INFO, Python; and a valid driver's license.
