I posted an explanation, the RPMS, the tarball, the SRPMS.

http://lark.cc.ku.edu/~pauljohn/Swarm/Swarm-2.2x_RPMSforRH8.0/

I have installed the rpm on a different RH8 system than the one on which I built the RPMS and I'm reasonably confident they will work for you.

A bunch of RPM users have had trouble installing j2sdk, so I have made the concession of installing Sun's js2sdk rpm. UNFORTUNATELY, users are going to have to install EXACTLY THE SAME EDITION of j2sdk. This causes a hassle. Last week I downloaded j2sdk-1.4.1 and all was well. Today to set up a second machien, they offer instead an improved j2sdk-1.4.1_01. Wonderfully, the first installs into /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1 and the second into /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_01. That breaks swarm, so I had to rebuild the swarm-jdk rpm against that slightly newer tarball.

If they change versions often, I'll get all pissed off and go back to the old way of building Swarm against a "fixed" directory, even though that causes users trouble installing Swarm (because they often did not follow my directions, I think).

Please heed my warning about the gcc problems you will run into if you try to rebuild Swarm on your own on RH8.0.
