Since I've found myself working in a Slackware shop (not my decision
mind you ;-)), I will weigh in on this, if I may:

Check Linux Mafia:
http://www.linuxmafia.org/
for newer gcc* (2.95) packages for Slackware. I know someone has
built them, and believe me, it will save you considerable time and
pain...

8.3.x should be in the base Slackware 7.1 distro.

This you still have to do. No-one has packaged it up for Slackware as
yet. If I have spare time, I might try and package up blt and swarm
as Slackware tgz packages, but probably not for a while (i.e. don't
wait for me to get around to it! ;-)).
