Supposing that HDF5 is installed in /usr/local, the way to get
HAVE_HDF5 defined is to add "--with-hdf5dir=/usr/local" to the
configure command.  configure will then confirm that hdf5.h exists in
/usr/local/include and that libhdf5.a exists in /usr/local/lib before
setting HAVE_HDF5.
