Is it possible you have several versions of BLT installed and a
incorrect ordering to your linker `-L' directives?  I just built Tcl
7.6, Tk 4.2, libtclobjc-1.1b7 and BLT 2.3 on a Red Hat box and the
patch is needed to prevent the large dots (e.g. with heatbugs).

Note that you should also apply the patch titled 
"BLT 2.3's now-absent drag&drop `config' option" (the patch can be found
in the swarm-support mailing list archives).  If that patch is absent,
you should be seeing errors like below on standard output.

(Tcl -eval:) bad operation "config": must be "handler" or a configuration option
    while executing
"drag&drop source
