I should probably have jumped in when Glen and Chris asked us to comment
on priorities and plans for swarm.org a little while ago: I'd like to
second Ted's remark earlier today, that parallelism is a cool concept,
but should not be high on the list of priorites at the moment.
For example, as end users "evangelize" Swarm we should be able to give a
positive answer to questions such as "Does it have a manual?", "Does it
support a debugger?", "Is it easy to install?". At the moment the answer
to all these questions is basically "no".
I'll grant you that there is a tremendous amount of work involved in
dealing with each of these problems; especially with regard to debugging
support (which I expect has more to do with the development of GNU ObjC
than Swarm in particular) and installation (which is a function of the
large number of different libraries that Swarm is built on).
Still, the viability and wide acceptance of Swarm relies on a solution
to these problems, more than it depends on the addition of new and
highly complex features.
Regards,
-Benedikt
