Is this under screen using vertical splits, perchance?  Only if so,
that's what will happen I'm afraid.

No, I don't use split.
Today I have retry the test with cat under screen and the problem disappears !! So i have re-test with vi but flicker is always here.

1/ put 500 lines of "test test test ..." in clipboard
2/ paste it into vi not under screen (instantanely)
3/ paste it into nano not under screen (slow but don't flick)
4/ paste it into vi under screen (flick, I must destroy it)
5/ paste it into nano under screen (flick, I must destroy it)
