Follow-up Comment #15, task #14088 (project administration):

Hello Davin,

To update the web-pages for a GNU project, you should use the project's CVS
repository as explained on the website the Hugh referred to.
Any file you push to that repository will be copied to the project's directory
on www.gnu.org
(e.g. the files in http://web.cvs.savannah.gnu.org/viewvc/grep/?root=grep are
those that appear in http://www.gnu.org/software/grep ).

Currently no other methods are supported to update the web-pages (e.g. git).
Savannah administrators can not put files there directly (we don't even have
access to that server).

Lastly, as general guideline, please do not put source-code or release
archives there (e.g. tar.gz, zip, etc.). Only HTML,CSS,JS and similar
web-related files should be hosted on www.gnu.org. (An exception is PDF,INFO
and compressed archive of the *manual* for the program, not the program
itself).

The location to make public releases is ftp.gnu.org , as explained in the
maintainer's manual:
https://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/maintain.html#Distributions .

Savannah also has a "downloads" server, and files can be stored there using
ssh/rsync/scp:

See "Download -> RSync Access" section here:
http://savannah.gnu.org/maintenance/SavannahServices/ .

regards,
 - assaf
