==== Description: ====
gtranscribe is a transcription tool.
It is a combination of media player and text editor. The intended use is to
help with transforming interviews from audio to text.
Playback can be slowed down (with and without pitch correction). On pausing
playback the current position in the audio file is set back a little. It is
possible to add the current position in the audio file into the text file.
Opening files can automatically distinguish between audio and text files.
To support the user in his/her task, all these functions are accessible
through hotkeys, as well as buttons.
The simple GTK user interface uses gtksourceview to render text and for its
undo/redo capabilites.
The player component uses gstreamer for media playback.
gtranscribe is written entirely in python and has been tested on several
gnu/linux distributions.
I started the project because a friend needed this kind of software. There
are already some other implementations, but none of those are free, usable
and/or have this set of features.
