Follow-up Comment #6, task #9636 (project administration):
I don't think you modified those external source code files, so I am
explaining for the situation where you did not modifiy the files.
If you mean include it in your version control repository, I think the answer
is no. If you mean include it in the source tarball distribution for your
project, I think that is fine provided that you disclaim those files are part
of your project and that either you or the other programs you are distributing
provide the information on where they can get the project.
Savannah provides a download a service where you can upload your tarballs for
your distribution needs.
Zlib is in the gcc source tarball distribution. It uses this phrase to
disclaim ownership of those files in the README of the project:
"This directory contains the zlib package, which is not part of GCC but
shipped with GCC as convenience."
I think it is fine you include the notice above tree as well. The license
itself should go in the directory of the source I feel.
Does that make sense?
