MakeCFiles vous permet de créer très simplement un makefile pour GNU Make.
La librairie a été développé et testé avec GNU Make 3.81 (et nécessite une version >= 3.80).
Make est un très bon projet, très répandu et largement installé. L'idée très intéressante de Make est de proposer un système de dépendance entre les fichiers en fonction de leurs dates. Ce principe est très simple et est complètement indépendant de la plateforme, de l'outils de compilation, des options de compilation, etc. Vous pouvez utiliser un Makefile pour compiler du [[latex|http://www.latex-project.org/]], des fichiers [[lilypond|http://www.lilypond.org]], ou n'importe quoi.
Ceci est donc un gros avantage mais a donc l'inconvénient de ne pas proposer d'éléments tout fait pour compiler, ce pour quoi il est le plus largement utilisé, du code C/C++. Voilà donc tout l'intérêt de proposer une librairie qui vous permet de simplifier ce travail, en ne dépendant que de l'outil make et en aillant pleinement accès à toutes les fonctionnalité d'un makefile.
L'utilisation de cette librairie vous permettra automatiquement :
* de compiler sous unix (linux ou macosx)
* de compiler sous windows
** sous dos ou cygwin
** avec gcc ou visual
* d'avoir un affichage soigné avec le pourcentage au fur et à mesure de la compilation
Elle propose des fonctions (que vous n'êtes pas obligé d'utiliser) qui vous permettrons de :
* rechercher automatique les librairies utilisées
** recherche dans les différents dossiers standards (pour définir les chemins d'include ou de linkage)
** les librairies supportées sont très facilement extensibles (il suffit de rajouter un fichier en s'inspirant d'un autre fichier en remplaçant les chemins standards)
* rechercher automatique les fichiers à compiler
La librairie génère les fichiers compilés (.o ou .obj) ainsi que les fichiers de dépendances (.d) dans un dossier séparé pour ne pas gêner au milieu de vos fichiers sources.
Elle enregistre également dans ce répertoire des fichiers temporaires avec les librairies trouvées, les fichiers à compiler trouvés, etc. pour ne pas refaire ce travail à chaque fois que vous tapez "make" et ainsi ne pas vous ralentir.
