  *gnuschool*

Description:
------------
GNUSchool is an educational web application using LAMP
Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP

It has 4 directories: db_admin principals students teachers

db_admin: automates creation of MySQL databases,by importing data in dbase
files or text files

principals: allows for student absent search, cut class search, and
student info editing

students: allows students to take tests, access is by user name and
password

teachers: lets teachers move buttons with names so they can choose any
seating arrangement, take attendance, tabular display of grades with buttons
for easy makeups, save and display tests taken, student info editing is
separate from main data, creation of new tests, editing tests, create and
display student passwords, review tests, lock_unlock database, test
monitoring to see who has
completed test who hasn't, test find to search for test by using an ISBN
and/or page number and/or book name and/or etc., set test for specific
periods so students automatically get that test when they login

The number of databases created depends on the data file imported, one
database is created for each teacher and it's web accessible only by that
teacher, there is one main database web accessible only to principals, and
there is one user database accessible by everyone.

GNUSchool was written to assist schools everywhere.
I hope it evolves into software that allows schools to shift from a static
educational system to a more dynamic one.
I believe it would serve humanity greatly if educational systems did not
restrict children by age, or grade level, or courses offered, or pass grades
or fail grades.

A testing database that places students in categories according to
combinations of test scores from various subject matter, would allow children
to excel in their strengths, and to go at their own pace.
