Full Name:

GMediaRender
System Group Name:

gmrender
Type:
-----
non-GNU software & documentation
License:

GNU General Public License V2 or later
Description:
------------
GMediaRender is a UPnP media renderer for POSIX-compliant systems. It
implements the server component that provides UPnP controllers a means to
render media content (audio, video and images) from a UPnP media server.
This program is intended to run completely GUI-less, and to be controlled by
a software or hardware UPnP AV Controller implementation.
By itself, GMediaServer does not include any audio or video codecs, and
relies completely on GStreamer to provide content decoding and rendering.
A first -preliminary- version is currently available at
http://soggie.soti.org/gmediarender/files/gmediarender-0.0.1.tar.bz2
In its current stage, it is able to at least play Ogg/Vorbis files from a
UPnP MediaServer, as instructed by a UPnP controller.
Other Software Required:
------------------------
* Linux SDK for UPnP Devices (libupnp)
http://upnp.sourceforge.net/
libupnp is licensed under the terms of a modified BSD
* GStreamer
http://www.gstreamer.net/
gstreamer is licensed under the LGPL
Other Comments:
---------------
GMediaRender is a perfect companion to GMediaServer, at
http://www.nongnu.org/gmediaserver/
