Just an FYI in case no one has mentioned it already, it appears that after the web server frontend upgrade, the site is not automatically redirecting http -> https connections resulting in insecure connections on a number of browsers (when the short email is typed in without an explicit https:// at
the front of "savannah.gnu.org"). I infrequently check the site, and my
browser choked on this in standard goose-chase fashion.

This is often considered a misconfiguration, and its fairly normal to
redirect to https using a 301 (permanent), or 302 (in temporary cases). If there is a reason for not redirecting in this way, it might be good to post
it when soliciting reports of issues following upgrades.

IIRC, you will be permanently redirected to https: only when you login and access account stuff. Plain http is still supported. This is intentional, as a decision made by gnu.org.
