Jeff Read <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Sprite32
System name: sprite32
Type: non-GNU
Description:
This project is intended to be a portable, compact, object-oriented library
written in C++ for sprite-based games and 2D interactive graphics. The eventual
goal is to provide a thin object-oriented abstraction layer over the underlying
window system or framebuffer hardware driver, so that software using the
library will be source-compatible across free operating systems like GNU/Linux
running free window systems like XFree86; proprietary operating systems with
their own GUIs like Microsoft Windows; or systems without an underlying window
system, like PDAs and hand-held game devices.
The library is quite small, and does only one thing (support for things like 3D
graphics and sound is not included); as a result, it is uniquely suited to
areas where space is at a premium, like the abovementioned handheld devices.
Some rather sophisticated games and other diversions can be written in a very
small amount of code.
It's a little labor of love of mine that I've been working on in stops and
starts, and have very recently committed to starting again.
Source code is available at the following URL:
http://i-0-i.com/parodycheck/software/sprite32/sprite32-0.6.tar.gz
Other Software Required:
Only X11, and optionally OpenGL.
