Project Purpose and Summarization
I am writing a perl web site content management system based loosely on
phpWebSite and inspired in part by bugzilla. The initial impetus to considering
taking this on was an ISP that could not provide me with the databases that I
needed for various web site projects. The driving force behind writing code
that others could share and improve was the realization that many out there are
probably in the same boat as I - limitied ISP resources - and might be greatly
relieved to learn that there was already a solution to their problem availible
for free.
This product will not require that the user know perl, only that they know how
to setup a configuration file. However, this project will include a new perl
module that will generate site theme and content from the data in the config
file. The module will not only be a wrapper for the many modules which the
project comprises, but also a collection of useful and unique functions for
generating the site. It will enable those with the interest or experience to
reach beyond the config file, dive more deeply into the guts of the code, and
create new and interesting permutations.
It does not exist yet but I\'m working on it. I have test code for the various
parts, but not a release.
