A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
John Ogness <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Dazuko
System name: dazuko
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
This project is a kernel module, which provides 3d-party applications an
interface for file access control. It was originally developed by H+BEDV
Datentechnik GmbH to be used for on-access virus scanning. Other uses include a
file-access monitor/logger or external security implementations. It operates by
intercepting file-access calls and passing the file information to a 3rd-party
application. The 3rd-party application then has the opportunity to tell the
kernel module to allow or deny the file-access. The 3rd-party application also
receives information about the file, type of access, process id, and user id.
The project has been released as Free Software in order to allow users to
compile the kernel module for their own custom kernels. It also gives the
project an opportunity to set a standard interface for 3rd-party file access
control. Free Software also provides the added benefit of increased robustness
and security, having many eyes investigate the kernel module source code.
Although H+BEDV Datentechnik GmbH will continue to support the project and
provide commercial software that communicates to the project software via its
interface, this project is Free Software and is in no way
owned/patented/protected by H+BEDV Datentechnik GmbH. This project provides a
fully functional kernel module with a well-defined interface, allowing any
organization to develop software to communicate with the project software.
The current status of the project is usable for the Linux kernel. However we
would like to see the project expand to support other operating system kernels
such as FreeBSD and Windows, as well as expand in functional capabilities.
The project is currently available at the website of H+BEDV Datentechnik GmbH:

An example program demonstrating the interface for the kernel module is also
provided in the archive.
