Hi,
While changing the webpages menu as suggested by RMS, I cleaned up
the HTML code to reduce the number of HTML errors in Savannah pages, and to
make them lighter and cleaner. The major changes I've made are:
- Eliminated Verdana and Arial (proprietary fonts) from the lists of fonts
used repeatedly in the CSS stylesheet. Helvetica and sans-serif should be
enough for all browsers.
- Trashed the cute frame with a screw in every corner. I think the nice
look they give are not worth the extra burden in page size and number
of images. I think without the screw we now look more like a GNU server,
rather than a SourceForge server.
- Please remember that if you ever need a "&" in an HTML page, it must be
written as & even if it appears within a URL or a piece of verbatim
code.
- The copyright notice at the bottom appears now in black, as the rest of
the text, rather than white on blue background.
The CSS styling is stil very inefficient. I intend to do some further changes
to improve it in size and presentation. I will also remove a javascript
function sent with every page and which I think is not being used (unless
anyone has a good use for it).
Cheers,
Jaime
