My project is called CopyInspector
CopyInspector is an application that highlights plagiarism in an programming
environment. There are existing copy-detection tools available for academics
but few with both a simple and effective detection-engine. Most designs
consist of collecting data on submitted files and then comparing the statistics
gathered. More advanced and complex copy-detectors will parse the grammar and
check for structural duplication.
CopyInspector\'s copy-detection engine is one derived from signal processing
theory. The two files are compared by process similar to convolution. Each file
is compared character by character and matches counted. The file is shifted and
wrapped by one character and then compared again. A graph of similarity by
shift number indicates duplication by way of a spike in the results.
