Greetings,
I have managed to write a script that could convert almost all the
existing RULE content to the new format and just ran it.
Please surf to see the result to:
http://rule-test.homelinux.org/~mfioretti
That site now has almost everything we have on the original site, in a
much more manageable format. What is still missing are the news, and
the data from the testing database.
What next? Basically 2 things:
1) I will now start testing how to add the missing pieces, and format
the pages better and leaner: no forums, no list of articles from the
same author, etc.. for the reasons already discussed here on the list.
2) I need your help in these two ways:
a) the script was rough, and there surely are tons of linking and
formatting errors in the pages. Please signal them to me off
list, with a mail with subject RULE_ERR:<article_title>. Be
picky: quote the exact section of the text which are wrong and
why. After that, be patient :-)
b) The good news is that now we can share the load: if you feel
like contributing, contact me again to have a login as maintainer,
so we can fix the pages and add new ones working in team. The SPIP
formatting guidelines are simple, 1/2 pages only.
Once we have fixed up the content, I will back it up and rebuild it
from scratch on the real server. Then we can start working again to
get RULE for Fedora Core 2 (release supposed around May 17th, so the
timing looks perfect).
Ciao,
Marco Fioretti
