There is no need to password to register a name (unless you have one)

The signature is the username signed with your key. It's available through all platforms since a few months

as a side note: i notice that the 'lautre' nick has associated
fields for 'publickey' and 'signature', but my nick does not
have those - what is the purpose of 'publickey' and 'signature'?
- are they for a new feature that was unavailable when i
registered, or something specific to the android platform?
