Follow-up Comment #1, bug #61240 (project reproduce):
In the log file,
grep --color -B4 libiconv log.20210928.config.5.gcc.bug
(-B4 because the compile commands are continued over several lines) seems to
show the lines where we would want to insert _-L/BUILD/software/installed/lib_
before _/BUILD/software/installed/lib/libiconv.so_ rather than after it, I
assume. Something like a hack or addition of a .m4 file is my guess at a
workaround, so that at least gcc can be compiled (by gcc).
