Details:
So far, we are simply using BibTeX to store the software citation. But it was
recently recommended by Daniel Katz to use more standard citation files like
codemeta.json <https://codemeta.github.io> and citation.cff
<https://citation-file-format.github.io>. These formats can then be translated
to BibTeX, but are more generic and "would better fit the overall growing
software citation/metadata ecosystem" (quote from Dan).
This is a very interesting suggestion and we'll try to implement it shortly.
