Hi Andrew,

thanks for your contribution, but I am facing a problem in executing your binary:

C:\Backup\rdiff-backup>rdiff-backup-1.2.2-4gb-fix3.exe --version
rdiff-backup 1.2.2

C:\Backup\rdiff-backup>rdiff-backup-1.2.2pre3.exe --version
rdiff-backup 1.2.2pre3

C:\Backup\rdiff-backup>rdiff-backup-1.2.3pre1.exe --version
Impossibile eseguire il programma specificato. <=====

C:\Backup\rdiff-backup>rdiff-backup-1.2.3pre2.exe --version
Impossibile eseguire il programma specificato. <=====

C:\Backup\rdiff-backup>rdiff-backup.exe --version
rdiff-backup 1.2.2

As you can see I've also tested all the other Windows builds and, although they didn't solve my problem, they at least start executing while versions 1.2.3pre1 and 1.2.3pre2 does not. The error message translated in english sounds like something as "The system cannot execute the specified program".

Marco,

Well, that's very interesting, but it also makes sense. For 1.2.3, we've switched compilers and updated Python on Windows to fix the bug which prevented files larger than 4gb from being backed-up.

What platform are you running on? (Please be very specific, 32-bit or 64bit? exact version of Windows? etc.)

Same here.

On Windows Server 2003r2 ServicePack 2 (32bit english) (5.2.3790)
On XP ServicePack 3 (32bit english) (5.1.2600)

On both the 1.2.2 works while the 1.2.3pre1 and 1.2.3pre2 fail:
"The system cannot execute the specified program"

Erwin

Andrew
