I use rdiff-backup on Win XP. I want to backup my files on my network (SMB) drive. When I try to do it I get this error: pywintypes.error: (1314, 'SetFileSecurity', '\xca\xeb\xe8\xe5\xed \xf2 \xed\xe5 \xee\xe1\xeb\xe0\xe4\xe0\xe5\xf2 \xf2\xf0\xe5\xe1\xf3\xe5\xec\xfb\xec\xe8 \xef\xf0\xe0\xe2\xe0\xec \xe8.')
```
Is it impossible to backup on SMB share?
it looks I'm getting a very similar error when backing up from a local drive to a NAS (Linkstation Pro) connected via SMB at "s:\".
Ok, so it looks to me like these problems with backing up from Windows to SMB are closely related to the problems which were discovered on Windows 2000. I've been able to recreate them in my test environment, and write some fixes which are now in CVS.
As I just mentioned in my Windows 2000 email, I have made a pre- release of the Windows version available:
```http://download.savannah.nongnu.org/releases/rdiff-backup/testing/rdiff-backup-1.2.2pre.exe

and the CHANGELOG for that prerelease is here:
