you got a traceback or some fatal error?  i haven't been able to get 
rdiff-backup to fail with mode 644 directories yet... i mustn't be doing 
something right...

yeah v0.13.2, 0.13.3 and 0.13.5 all had bugfixes related to getting this 
to work right...
