I am running Debian Jessie Linux 64-bit with 32 GB or ram. rdiff-backup is of
version " 1.2.8"

When I try to use rdiff-backup to backup data on my hard drive /media/volume_1
(command shown below)

/usr/bin/rdiff-backup --exclude /media/volume_1/exports/download/Downloads
--exclude /media/volume_1/exports/download/log --exclude
/media/volume_1/exports/download/temp --exclude
/media/volume_1/exports/download/TimeMachine --exclude
/media/volume_1/exports/download/torrent --exclude
/media/volume_1/exports/download/Backup --exclude
/media/volume_1/exports/download/autodownload --exclude
/media/volume_1/exports/Security/ --print-statistics /media/volume_1/exports/
/media/volume_1/Backups/Backup_Exports/ 1>>/var/log/rdiff-backup.log

the /media/volume_1_backup is spin up. Please note that the
/media/volume_1_backup is not being used in the above command and it primary
use is a backup disk for backuping up the /media/volume_1 hard drive using the
command below

rsync -aAXhv --progress --delete --out-format="\%t \%f \%b" /media/volume_1/
/media/volume_1_backup 1>>/var/log/volume_1_backup.txt
