That makes sense since I produce the tarballs using the autotools on
my box which are probably out of date.

I think the Proper Solution is for me to build the dists using up to
date tools or for you to build them out of CVS using the version tags.
I have plans to make my machine the non-suck. But that may take some
time to get around to.
