Possibly six is defined as a modifier key?
Not in the least. The only reference to it in the problematic
xmodmap file was
keycode 30 = 6 asciicircum
(or, according to the output of xmodmap -pk)
30 0x0036 (6) 0x005e (asciicircum)
(and xmodmap -pm)
xmodmap: up to 5 keys per modifier, (keycodes in parentheses):
shift Shift_L (0x40), backslash (0x44)
lock
control Control_L (0x83), Control_R (0x6a), Control_R (0x85)
mod1 Mode_switch (0x2c), Mode_switch (0x7d)
mod2 Meta_L (0x84), Meta_L (0x86)
mod3 Hyper_L (0x3a), Hyper_L (0x47), Hyper_R (0x26)
mod4 Super_L (0x46), Super_L (0x7a), Super_R (0x29)
mod5 Alt_L (0x6f), Alt_L (0x7f)
Also note that the six key was working as usual in 1.3.0-RC1b.
