What I was thinking is that it would be good to have some visible
indication of what other windows are doing without visiting them
(i.e. maybe you're waiting for a long-running build to finish or
something).

W/o the live updating it would be pretty useless, I agree.

(Also, I'm thinking it might be better to just have a key-sequence pop
it up for a few seconds, like the C-t w window list)

I suppose, though, that one could use the screen-splitting and so
forth to gain this.

I'm not aware of this screen feature.

I was more looking for "feasibility" feedback, 'cause I've not done
any X programming (I mean besides using widgit kits and suchlike).

If and when I get a patch, I'll obviously forward it...
