Someone else will hopefully say something more useful, but in the
meantime, answers to the following will be useful!


1) Do you find the problem with just the one case (noted in your
screenshot) or does it appear with other directory names containing ö
too? If it occurs with others too, try the following as names of
directories: 
(i) ‘ (--> 3 bytes in UTF-8)
(ii) 𐭠 (--> 4 bytes in UTF-8)
[ö takes 2 bytes in UTF-8] 
 
(Create a new directory containing another directory, and not
recycle your Björk directory!)

2) Perhaps there is a hidden file in the Björk directory? What is the
output of `ls -la Björk'? 

3) What happens when you change the Björk to (i) Bjrk, and (ii)
Bjöörk?

4) Invoke ranger with `ranger --debug' and navigate to the Björk
directory. If ranger crashes, note the result!
