Yes that's also a way. This is for m68k/q800 but a PCI version of that qfb 
device might also work for PPC Macs. It should be possible to use the same 
code the same way as hw/display/sm501 has a sysbus and a PCI version for 
different machines. Ideally it would need to be upstreamed in QEMU so no 
forked sources needed to use it.
