However, I actually have followed this exact instruction and built an image for ls1046ardb and it turned out to be just for bootstrapping real board,not for QEMU simulation.

Or simply google -  "yocto quick build", you will get above link.

"Build image" is explained nicely in 5 steps after host machine readiness and you should get idea over image over qemu using these steps.
