I think no need to try sockets=2. I read windows 7 only support UP to 2 socket, this is hard limit. So we need to use cores to workaround this.
Share two blogs who claim they made it but I am unlucky.

Try setting sockets=6,cores=1? I had this issue when running Solaris as guest. For some reason Solaris never detected any of the cores. It could only detect the sockets.
